Scare of NS

I don't know whether to comment on this but i find it really something to share with all of you
Heard from my cousins that they have some friends who are so afraid of serving NS til the point of being paranoid
Some of them even deiberately injured themselves! and end up in some light vocations. Recently there is this friend of my mum who even went to the point of caliing CMPB to ask them if they can exempt her son from NS just because her son don't seem to be able to take hardships! I have also heard and seen many cases where people fake some illnesses or injuries during their pre enlist medical checkup. Oh god isn't NS should be a growing and learning experience which everyone should and must go through? NS grooms an individual to cultivate a certain level of independence and tolerance for hardships. Shouldn't this group of people reflect on themselves a little? Ns should be a learning experience for all, it should be the most significant phase in our life which we must go through, and in the midst make certain positive turning points in our life before we become a man from boy 
what we should do is take it like a man and go through NS with positive mindset,afterall it is just 2 years but lots can be learnt and achieved thorughout the process which can help us to do wonders in the later part of our life

its good that u not like the ppl u listed... they all need councellor b4 gng ns... maybe they should send all pre enlistee go look first... nowadays ns is better than last time liao...

anyway why go through it if you do not need to? if you have to i agree just go thru it as best as you can but if there is a chance not to go through it why not? and also if you can make your passage smoother why not? -
Personally i think the main reason why some of the parents nowadays are so against NS is the recent death cases of NS men
One of my relative told me to keng during cdos bmt or else risk of dying is very high and that piece of infomation really scare my mum out of her wits! They make it sound as if i am going to meet my doom in few weeks time -

When your mum sees you alive after 1 week or 1 month of NS, that will be enough to convince her that all the fears are untrue.

What's this world coming to?
I can understand the feelings of apprehension and so on.... that's exactly what every one of us (ok, most of us) felt prior to going into NS.
Unfortunately, I also know of cases of fellas who whacked their little fingers with hammers and used other ways and means just to OOC and downgrade. Needless to say, I look down on those cowards who can't even take a little hardship and face things like a man.
Also, all I have to say to those paranoid parents is: get a grip. Your son is now a man. He is no longer that cute little boy who plays hopscotch and catching. -
well,i would think that with the more recently frequent reported death of NSF (as compared to last time where few such cases reported),it may have made some parents (particularly mothers who are more ignorant of NS stuff)to become more "aware" that the army is now dangerous and thus getting their unwanted worries rising.
But anyway hope those who still worry so much that they try to keng will get punished,NS now is already such a good life still want to keng,might as well go change gender to be a girl
