im an O lvl student nw..n im interested 2 sign up 4 the saf joint poly scheme..im oso interested signin up 4 Guards unit..but im not sure that whether im qualified 2 go into this unit..Does my dregree of my eyesight affect that? my eyesight is ard 750 to 800..does it means that i have no chance to enter into Guards?

Secondly, commandos and guards are the hottest vocation of the scheme... spaces are VERY limited... my friend went for the scheme once he entered poly, he opted for guards but the recruitment officer told him that it's all filled up... he opted for armour instead... so pray hard
Lastly, Your myopia is on the high side and this may compromise your chance to enter guards... with regards to the kind of missions they undertake, high degree of myopia may not be favourable... Also take note of your PES status, must be A or B... otherwise forget it...
bottomline... nothing is absolute, exceptions could be made... why don't you call up ARC to check... unless you're very sure about your career choice at this stage of life, you may wanna experience army first before signing on... rem once you pen your signature, there's no room for regrets...

apply as a combat medic...
at least when u leave the army....u learn something useful...and have certs to beef up watever educational resume tat u have...
high chance to be warrant too cos its a small formation compared to guards or infantry.... -

its no surprise that there are too many guardsmen spec regulars....theres even too many infantry spec regulars too...its too saturated....

I have not taken my IPPT as im nt enlisted yet..I can swim but im nt sure whether im up 2 their standards..i wan to sign on as i always wanted 2 b a guardsmen 4 miself n wan 2 contribute 2 saf..im also interested in these job n aim 2 b my carrer in e future..my degress is high but can i noe if i can the combat glasses it would b useful? I think wat he meant is your NAPFA results... must be either gold or silver, or else forget it... swimming is not much of a concern, considering the fact that it won't be taken into account for your JPSDS application... just train hard if you get it lor... You sure about your career choice at this stage of your life?? it's no child's play you knoe... perceptions may change when you are in post secondary institutions... if you've signed it, there's no room for regret then... plus under JPSDS, you would only become a spec, thus almost ZERO chance of becoming an officer... unless you've got spectacular performance during SISPEC... my advise would be... go through army first, understand the system and decide whether it's suitable for yourself... (regimentation, irregular hours etc...) all these before committing...
Can I knoe wat's combat glasses?? Either you wear conventional specs or contact lenses... but both got pros and cons... specs may drop when you're running, while there may be hygiene concerns when wearing contact lenses outfield... so best is dun wear glasses or low myopia...
P.S: Army is not as fanastic as it seems...
