yeah...thats the replacement...Originally posted by SpecOps87:Thought confirm replacing with Accuracy International L96A1 already?
u are SO right about the assessment part.Originally posted by Incedrius:Think of it as a long kick in the nuts... At the end of which ADF troopers are supposedly able to know enough to join the regular companies without tripping over their own feet.In practice... Like in so many other schools and courses, some critical lessons are only taught once, then trainees are given ONE chance to try it out in the field, and that one time trying it out in the field is ALSO an assesment. But make no mistake, despite its shortcomings, CQC is tough! Hell, I should know... I was a trainee under Master Ross, when he was still a Staff, over at 3 Guards... And I fully understand the problems that the training cadre face; it's not easy getting the troopers fully up to spec in less than .![]()
Oh and to know what BPV is... look at the thread title!
Hmm, I didn't know news was out so fast? Is this the final result? Got a source for it? Not that I dont believe you... Id just like to see where the information came from.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Thought confirm replacing with Accuracy International L96A1 already?

Ah you were there too eh.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Told to me by Snipers during last yr's AOH at SAFTI MI. Also,if not mistaken snipers from 6SIR, Protection of Installation Unit is actually using the Swiss made Sig-Sauer SSG3000 7.62X51(.31) calibre sniping rifle.
Haha, yeah.Wouldn't have missed it for the world. But this year's NDP Celebration by the Bay,the SOF small-scale "Killhouse" is better then the one last year at AOH.Haha, anyway,SAF also uses the H&K MSG90 for urban areas.Still love the way the MP5 shoots, the lack of recoil and the speed of it.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Ah you were there too eh.Did you try the SOF's stall's activity?
Me and a fellow tech tried it.The reflex dot is not exactly a very reliable piece of equipment, but then again, it was abused by so many kids.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Haha,yeah.Wouldn't have missed it for the world. Interesting... Haven't heard about the SSG3000 being used by us before. The AI rifle yes... But never from an official source. It hasn't been officially acknowledged, as far as I know. Which is why I was more interested in knowing SO87's source than the info itself.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Told to me by Snipers during last yr's AOH at SAFTI MI. If you find any posts out of order, just drop us a line and we'll do a look-see.Originally posted by Incedrius:Interesting... Haven't heard about the SSG3000 being used by us before. Hmm, anyway, all the stuff posted here about limitations in training is common for most schools and courses. Don't worry, I think we self-censor alot of what we write here. But if we DO step outta line with regards to OPSEC, we'll button it up.
A car does not offer much protection from small arms fire, hiding behind a car is concealment not cover. Most common handgun rounds are capable of penetrating the vehicle into the passenger compartment.Originally posted by ceecookie:Anti Material Rifles like the M82 is quite useful and should be adopted by the Army..if there's a scenerio where there's a group of robbers hiding behind a car firing at the police...the snipers using the M82 can just shoot at the car blocking the robbers and he'll be shot...
Interesting, thanks. Didn't know about the SSG3000.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Definitely a sedan will provide very little cover for anyone hiding behind one.Anyway, please note the info about 6SIR snipers using the Sig-Sauer SSG3000 is seen as during SAF Day,there was a exhibition at my school showcasing the weaponry of the various arms of the SAF.6SIR was sent there, and besides the good old Styer SSG for field sniping being exhibitied, got to feel the Sig Sauer SSG3000 also. Definitely heavier compared to the L96A1 or Styer SSG.
