Changing your name tag to show your English name?

For those who have English names, did you bother to change your nametag on your No.4 or are/were you fine with people calling you by your surname?

It's all about preference, I guess.
Some people don't mind being referred to as 'Tan' or 'Lim' only and don't want to go through all the trouble and expense of changing the name tags. -

i'm doing my reservist now.. and i'm still using the same nametag i got when i was a recruit
too much trouble and gotta actually spend money to make a new nametag..
besides, these days, the tags are sewn onto the fatigues.. i still have the old velcro type

I had one too many velcro tags from my old coveralls, so I just sewn them on my No.4 them. -

I don't have an english name and my surname sounds awful. but i guess it'll just be for the next 2 years only (and the remaining 10 years reservist cycle if there is.. PES C9 anyway). so just gotta bear with it.

n my new attire gt new name tag which gt my eng name..
nt really a prob for me...

I hate being addressed by my surname...unless one wants to call me 'Mr (my surname)'.
My overalls already have my name on them. I'm not bothering with the No.4's yet...all bar my parade set are due for replacement soon. -

the 5 sets issued to me uses my chinese surname and acronym of my chinese given name. but i bought 1 new set just for parade use, my smartest 4. the name tag reads GORDON followed by my surname. bought from e-mart.

And it's even more irritating when I write my full name on a form and yet some staff member (permanent or auxiliary) still addresses me by surname. It's too impersonal for my liking and they're telling me they're either stubborn or need their eyes checked. i don't mind being called by my surname, it's the army afterall.

i had this funny PS once.....
he see tan....he will call tan kok kok
he see lee....he will call lee kok kok
he see teo....he will call teo kok kok
and so on and so forth... -
regarding the nametag thing....i recall when i was in school of provost on course...my instructor said that the actual STANDARD nametag (following SAF guidelines) if u have a christian name is the FIRST letter of ur english name, followed by initials, followed by surname...so if ur name is Andy Lee Ah Boon, ur nametag should state A A B LEE. interesting eh?
