Interesting to note that the fellows screwed up my name, for all time.Every list left out my Christian name even though it was on my NRIC.Originally posted by Hellraiza:regarding the nametag thing....i recall when i was in school of provost on course...my instructor said that the actual STANDARD nametag (following SAF guidelines) if u have a christian name is the FIRST letter of ur english name, followed by initials, followed by surname...so if ur name is Andy Lee Ah Boon, ur nametag should state A A B LEE. interesting eh?
ya. during my time there, most of the chinese sergeants there have their nametag in that pattern. but it sure looks very werid.Originally posted by Hellraiza:regarding the nametag thing....i recall when i was in school of provost on course...my instructor said that the actual STANDARD nametag (following SAF guidelines) if u have a christian name is the FIRST letter of ur english name, followed by initials, followed by surname...so if ur name is Andy Lee Ah Boon, ur nametag should state A A B LEE. interesting eh?

hmm ok.Originally posted by nismoS132:surname.
got no real preference, but i like my surname more than my english name. as time went by, i sort of felt that having an english name dilutes my chinese heritage. when i go overseas next year, i don't intend to use my english name anymore, unless with angmohs.
So trueOriginally posted by Gordonator:only army chinese friends, we tend to address them by surnames. it has become like a habit. but when u ORD and go out to work or go back to school, it'll be weird calling your new friends by their surnames, especially in school.![]()
