looks very conjested, esp. with the scope and the quadrant site and the LAD all so close together....hmm...think the solder must have "cock-eye" or dou ji yen, in order to use.

That is on the catalog.Never seen one myself, only the picatinny rail and the front grip versions.

It's the same gun. Except the second SAR21 just does not mount an LAD; it's not possible to mount the internal LAD with the M203 attached.
Uh... and the one with the Picatinny mil-std rails isn't likely to be issued to regular troops anytime soon. That includes Infantry, Guards, ADF, 1st CDO etc. CRF and SOF perhaps... seen some publicity pictures of them assaulting Pulau XXX... the normal one we all go to for beach assaults.

Managed to talk to the DSTA guy at AA2004.I told him about the weight concern and the ruggedisation of the whole-setup, he said give or take 2 yrs?For a lighter model. -
Like that we might as well adopt the chinese QBZ-95/97... pengz.

I wont hold my breath for a newer model of the SAR21. Seeing how not every unit even uses them, the priority is to get all regiments all using them first. For an example of how fast newer versions are fielded, just look at the Ultimax 100.

Thats the idea... to have the ability to modify the weapon for any situation. Like the M4-Sopmod. Multi Mission Rifle/Carbine.

Its good to sometimes have something which you don't use and rather not need it and not have it. Its like, imagine you are briefed that hostilities in the area of operation is gonna be next to none. And you opt to bring a pistol instead, but sway sway, major gunfight, and you would pray that your M16 w/M203 or Ultimax 100 will drop from the sky so that you can at least have something to even the odds.So yeah,same thing why people like to have somethings which may nt be needed.

There's a picture of a SAR-21 with what seems to be an AG-36 mounted. Interesting isn't it? And it's mounted slightly lower, so the LAD *may* be still usable. Seeing how no version of the SAR-21-M203 is actually issued, I hope this is a serious idea... Though Im pretty sure it's for export only... as usual.

Haha, the water vapor thing.. and the yellowed scope issue.Once, I asked the unit troopers, did he spill clam chowder over his rifle scope?He looked at me with that puzzled look.
