  He should have been promoted in the system.It's automatic.Your unit CC is probably holding it back.Check with her.
  
  There's hell of a lot of back pay owed.Guys, do check with your instructors before you leave OETI about your promotion.It should be fixed and guaranteed and they might be able to tell you the timeline for promotion.

  yup.. pity my fren.. he say his peers n juniors all 3SG so long liao he still PTE.. wonder if someone up there playing him..

  Its possible to deny promotion if his superiors think that he doesn't deserve it. Or if he doesnt' even hold an O'levels.

  but he should at least b given a Lcp or Cpl.. can u imagine he Pte rank for 2 yrs when a normal tech r all 3sg?

  Not for certain vocations, where automatic promotion is considered/granted under a manpower directive.But this being automotive, you might have a point.For armaments and comms, the automatic promotion might be more stringently followed.
  
  But SAF being a huge organization, will always have screw-ups now and then.

  For Nsfs usually after OETI Course pass put as CPL liao loh for poly n A level students.Then i think after 5-6 months get 3sg liao loh i also forget liao but unless being condem in the unit loh then the rank might not be promoted.I saw b4 1 guy in my unit last time who ORD as a PTE and he is famous in his "hiding"when guns book in from other units etc lol If i am noy wrong if pass ippt and the time have come, your unit clerk will recomend the promotion fast,if u fail ippt then have to wait for the rank to automatic promote loh.

The army or rather hq mes wants to cut the number of specs in these vocations and instead will promote the outstanding nsfs to 3sg and become section 2ic of the tech squad. A regular will become the section ic.

  The tech squad concept is already implemented?(For Armt Spec Techs)
  
  In my time, the Section IC is a MSG or a 2WO(Base).

  luckily i got my 3SG rank a few months ago n get to enjoy $560 per month allowances
  
  btw how about the centralisation of comms tech, turrent mech, small/heavy arms tech and c mech?

  SA/HA techs should have been centralised already, but action and concept is a bit off-tangent the last time I've heard.
  
  Turret mechs, not too sure.(Sungei Gedong?)
  
  Comms techs..(no idea )
  
  C Mech ( weren't they under the plant engineers?)
