putting red bull in your bottle as substitute for water is a hazard. red bull is full of taurine which till today the exact effects on human body is still inconclusive. but known outcome is enhanced metabolism ... which might exert your body on a already streneous activity.
being an unfortunate instructor... i walked 24 km 4 times and 32km 2 times. i know there are people out there who walked more.. but here's my tips ...
wear newer socks so there's more cushion.
pull your no. 4 pants all the way up so that the crotch area of the pants is in contact with your briefs. this prevents the hems and stitching (thickest at the crotch area) to be rubbing against your inner thighs. also make sure you are wearing fitting briefs rather than worn out ones, the loose elastic can be cause of abrasion too.
wear lycra thighs. plain ones will do.
drink lots of water from the day before.
think of the march as a multiple of 4km marches. rather that a long 24 km march. just tell yourself that a 4km march is roughly 45mins to 1 hour, and that you will rest abit before another 4km.
MAKE sure you adjust your SBO comfortably WITH allowances to adjust during the march. This ensures your comfort.
your rifle (if M16) can be rested on your right waterbottle. the magazine part can be rested in the space between your right bottle and your body. this way, your neck, shoulder are do not have to bear the weight.
don't hesitate to flush a bottle of water from your head down... water is unlimited.
ensure correct boot fit.
just endure and think of nothing about the distance....
