That was the ranks in the past. We use to follow the British style ranks - corporals are section commanders, lance corporals section 2i/c, etc.Originally posted by Aveme:well maybe now this will be more useful.
Previously, all those who are A levels or diploma holders will have to get their corporal rank so that they will serve their 2 1/2 year,so there was a necessity to give corporal rank to all of them.
Now that all will only serve 2 years,a corporal rank is no longer needed.
So maybe recruit--->private first class--->lance corporal--->corporal ?
previously they need to locally promote corporal to become sargents so that they will be section commanders, now maybe the men will be private first class or lance corporal while the section commanders will be the corporals?
Yes, my older brother wore those old uniforms with formation signs during parades.Originally posted by LazerLordz:in the 70s, they had formation logos if I remember correctly..
now it's hard to see a L/3SG..only L/2SG for those NSFs PS.And in non-combat roles, most of the 3SGs are S/3SG.Originally posted by Aveme:i see, maybe i am outdated then. For my battalion back then, all the section commanders were locally promoted.
It seemed nicer n anyone heard from sources when new rank can be officially launch?Originally posted by bcoy:Yes, my older brother wore those old uniforms with formation signs during parades.
Actually, the best rank to get in your NS life is 3SG.The right balance when you go back for reservist, cuz you're in between the men and the officers. Not much menial work or damned planning to do.Originally posted by jianfish9:if not being able to be promoted to a Cpl means that I can ORD 4months earlier I would certainly choose not to be promoted to one. Like since when is 1rank worth 4months in NS terms.
If can Ord as a recuirt after BMT. Fine.
Ranks is always relative... No point comparing... Lol/
Curious if NSF can be promoted to 2SG? Thank u.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Actually, the best rank to get in your NS life is 3SG.The right balance when you go back for reservist, cuz you're in between the men and the officers. Not much menial work or damned planning to do.![]()
Yes, apparently some 3SG in BMTC were promoted to 2SG, with some who did not even go through the PS course.Originally posted by will4:Curious if NSF can be promoted to 2SG? Thank u.
i'm a 3sg now.....Originally posted by LazerLordz:Actually, the best rank to get in your NS life is 3SG.The right balance when you go back for reservist, cuz you're in between the men and the officers. Not much menial work or damned planning to do.![]()
Condemned as NSF, bliss as NSmen.Originally posted by gnoik:3SG are the most condemned one la. Received lots of arrows and shooting them out.![]()
Ya..in SAF the vocation grade refers to these numbers..Originally posted by Dalforce:Thought vocation grade is something like your degree of expertise?
Something like
REC is 00 (zero zero)
Auto Tech is 45 (four five)
Turret Tech is 50 (five zero)![]()
Hmm..combat specs and spec techs share the 45.Originally posted by CKtalon:Ya..in SAF the vocation grade refers to these numbers..
Signallers/Combat Medics are grade 30
Combat Specs are grade 45
Storeman is Grade 15
etc...
Basically the grade is somehow equivalent to the rank..btw, officers are grade 00 too..Originally posted by LazerLordz:Hmm..combat specs and spec techs share the 45.![]()
