RP (Regimental Police): Prowl/ Sentry @ Camp Gate Office?

posted to RP at paya lebar airbase, happy cos its only 10mins from my home, but not sure about my vocation? can anyone give any info?
is there a training course? if so how is it like?
is it stay in? 8-5?
any combat pay?
i guess i'll be like the people holding the sar-21 and standing around like at the tekong ferry terminal.
guess its somewhat good don't have to choing suah so much, managed to dodge 1st and 6th SIR (heh). but abit sian for the next 2 years standing around zhuo boh too.
heheh at least can take bike licensce at ubi road easier.
any info appreciated -
Hello, welcome to FDS. You will be posting in on next Monday, and will be going through a 12 weeks course, it's like another BMT, with live firings, route marches and defence exercise (i.e. trench digging). It is NOT a 8 to 5 job, but a shift work. In PLAB, it's not quite like standing at SFT/TFT. Trust me, you will have lots of experience, learn lots of things and yar, you will do things more than just standing gates.
Once you graduate from course, you will know. Best of luck.

Another FDS guy... seems like FDS intake increasing every year.
Gd luck at PLAB, not the worst place to be posted to (most say Tengah's the worst), but not a walk in the park either.
There is still a chance that after your 3-month FDS course you may get posted out of PLAB to the other bases.
Security in air bases is many many times tighter than TFT/SFT so dun compare. Have fun getting to know every inch of the 20km perimeter fencing at PLAB.

Is it definitely that all RPs at PLAB go to FDS? If that's the case I think i have to prepare for 2 years more of *** in my life.

In my platoon got at least 4 liao, and i know of 3 more outside my bmtc company and 1 i read online..
So that means I know 8 ppl going to RP@PLAB.. But that's counting those i know.. there shud be many many more that I don't know right..?
No not probing to get the real strength out... just wondeirng why the intake is considered small when I found out so many ppl are in RP PLABs posting.. -
anyway, may i know if the first two weeks are confinement?
and if u on duty on public holidays will it be off in lieu? -

Once you're in FDS you can kiss goodbye to the notion of weekends and PHs; there are only 2 kinds of days in FDS - duty days and off-duty days. And no, you will not get off in lieu. -

How is this course compared to being posted to sispec? more siong? similar? easier?

sispec, u learn to be a section commander. leading, taking a comman role, learning tactics, making decisions.

Airforce RP is bad. Worst than Army Rp. Coz you get dumped all the shit that all the regulars siam since Airforce mainly regulars.
The course is quite bad too...
I work at an Airforce camp but I am not a regular and I do pity the Rps there.
Its worse when the camp is so damn big. -
So is there anything GOOD about this vocation at all?
