The shooting football fields is rubbish lar... who da hell can visualise a flying football field? Aim 5-5 aircraft in front... depending on distance, nearer lesser. The idea is project a wall of lead for the aircraft to fly into.
Personally, FAT HOPE trying to hit a plane lar... Unless its flying right at u. And in the event that it is....... say ur prayers and make ur peace. Cos some mean cluster munition is headin ur way. -

If you know the range, speed and trajectory of the ammo you have, take into account low flying aircraft, an upraised GPMG may be able to lob shells into the air and hit the plane/helo. -
Use LAW or the M203 illum round to blind the pilot lor.....
At least the GPMG is the last hope for the aircraft drill..... -

Oh this was true though. Especially if they pilot is flying at night. In the past, the night vision goggles were vulnerable to bright lights. U shoot fireworks up into the sky when u know the enemy pilot is using NVG, there is a good chance he will have to take out his NVG or switch off.
At night, without NVG, he can only rely on his FLIR pod (If equipped ) to find targets. Trying to find targets with JUST the flir, is like looking out from a straw.
IF the pilot is inept, or always give in to vertigo... he might even turn into a lawndart. -

I not sure about other unit , but in my unit the MG Gunner and 2IC suppose to hold on to 2 hand held illum....SOP
