Y only Officers and WOs wear ranks on Epaulets ?

y not male all wear on Epaulets ? since most countries are doing so nowadays -

The warrant officers ranks went from sleeves to shoulder only in the late 1980s or early 90s.

this has always been e case..
but for SCDF and Police, everyone wears on shoulder....
also, we can always have serg. or CPLs have ranks worn on epaulets...but not adress them as Sir -

the reason is very simple, if all soldiers wear rank on the epaulette, it will be very difficult for us to differentiate the officers from non comission officers.
imagine this, a CPT walks past, "Why u didn't salute me?"
reply, "Sorry Sir, I thought u are a 3SG." -

Actually SPF now all ranks on the shoulder... Me missed seeing the shiny LCP or SGT rank on the shoulder -
