When the NS liability was cut short, NSF can volunteer to extend their service.
As such they only get their regular NSF pay.
However, all those i know that apply to volunteer extension was rejected. haha.
The extension are mostly granted to people with important vocations (related to technical or where understudy don't come that soon)
People with estab-less vocation are rejected... instructors, school officers, etc. -

You can volunteer to extend your ORD because of maybe ATEC or NDP Marching Contigent or probably ad-hoc projects that the unit is anchoring. This DO NOT qualify you for regualr pay. You only get your NSF pay.
However, if let say you the extention requires you to extend more than the max limit (I think max. is 1 month) than you will be extending your ORD through a Short Term Contract Service for the duration i.e. 2 months or 3 months. Then, they will pay you regular pay.
BTW, like mentioned before, it is not counted to your reservist ah. -
there's a guy in my unit with extended his ORD for 6 months. during this 6 months he gets regular 3sg pay.
