  Okay...i know why Armour uses black, CDOs use red, but seriously, ever thought why they chose GREEN for Infantry (judging that green berets are traditionally worn by special forces units throughout the world) and khaki for the Guardsmen? The only other unit that wears khaki i think are the Irish Guardsmen...whos combat role im not too sure of lah. So anyone can explain?

  Irish Guards are crack troops who have a history dating back centuries, same as the Scots Guards, Grenadier Guards, Coldstream Guards.They are supposed to provide the ceremonial guards to the Queen.

  For Guards, khaki beret is to denote their separate operational skills above that of the Infantry.
  
  For Commandos, it's suppose to be maroon, not red. Should look at the British MP. Their's, i think, is red beret.
  
  Remember that RSAF's uses Blue-Grey hue for their beret

  Guards and Commandos use berets with the No. 1 uniform because the beret for these unit members are awarded through the various courses just like any medals, badges or tags awarded to individuals.
  
  Not too sure about armoured units and their berets.
  But they do provide the ceremonial lance guards during formal parades. You see them with the long spears or poles during National Day parades.
