help on deferment

  i got CMP, some problem with my kneecap. i got a specialist letter. he suggested deferment. my enlistment is next thur. currently pes A.
  
  can i defer as i am undergoing physio. it takes up to 2+ months for treatment. can i defer to the next batch which is 3 more months away? or will they enlist me in jan n downgrade me? which is the usual practice? CMPB is closed. only open on tues. would like to clear my doubts now as enlistment is 6 days away.

  better to just enlist and downgrade.
  
  delay enlist by 3 months = delay ord by 3 months.

  Show your specialist's letter to the MO when you report sick or during the medical examination following enlistment. Just because your specialist recommended deferment does not mean the SAF doctors will agree (I think it extremely unlikely). There are SAF specialists for such problems who will review your condition and your MO may refer you to them. The Chief of Medical Corps is an orthopaedic surgeon himself.
  
  Chondromalacia patella (CMP) is a very common problem and many of us have it at different degrees of severity (I have it too). Unless there are X-ray changes (very severe), you will not be downgraded. Physiotherapy will still be available in the army and it will be free as well. You may want to buy a knee guard and wear it during training...it may help.

  CMP is not downgradable but can excuse if needed

  so there is very chance of defering? so with CMP, how will that affect my performance? wil i get some shiit posting after BMT?
