SAF giving off bonus?!

Have you guys seen the news?
SAF seems to be giving off bonus to those who already serve and still serving is it for real?
hmmm i still gt a few more months before entering ns. if nt oso can get bonus
hw abt like my father will he get it also?? -

I wonder how much of bonus will get. Since its across the board, regardless of rank and seniority, it wouldn't be much.
better than nothing right. -
if they say that they are going to possibily give out the bonuses and in the end they don't, can you imagine what national uproar it may bring.

I think the $100 - $200 bonus is tad measly don't you? Not that I greedy but I think $100 to thank someone for sacrificing over 10 years for the nation is simply ridiculous they might as well not have broached it in the first place.
The Roman soldiers when they completed their 20yr service were given money earned from their campaigns and free titles to small parcels of land within the occupied territories that they helped conquered.
I think want to give also give something more meaningful lah, maybe give $2000 ... shopping voucher also can lah, or give lifetime free membership to safra, or discounted public transport fares, free priority internet use at library or 13yrs free HDB SC charges.
$100 is not even enough to pay my pub and electrical bill for 1 month wth

Whether you are a NSF, a NSman going through your 10-year ICT, or an NSman who has fulfilled your NS liabilities, you are likely to enjoy financial, social and recreational benefits in one form or another.
NSmen from the Singapore Civil Defence Force and the Singapore Police Force will also be eligible for the benefits.
For example, the committee is recommending an NS Bonus, to be given to 700,000 serving and former NSmen, as part of the next surplus sharing exercise. For the first time, NSFs will also enjoy this bonus.
Another suggestion is a new award for NSmen upon the completion of their Operationally Ready National Service (ORNS). A one-time payout, this broad-based initiative would benefit up to 20,000 NSmen annually.

Don't give me any bonus, just get rid of the annual IPPT. Reservist cycle down to 5 also good.
