that i'm not sure. Of my frens who are from non active combat unit, most do not start their ICT cycle soon after ORD. Only those whose ns units are operational.Originally posted by Gordonator:wa lao eh! u mean i must wait 4 years for my ICT? that's too bloody long!
Aiyah, if you full time student they won't bother you till you graduate lah.Originally posted by Shotgun:Hahah, yeah, even if they send me notification, i will still defer, cos im a full time student now. LOL! I just want to see them waste their time.. loL!
May not be so!!! Tell you a personal experience. During my first few years of ICT, we find that all our incamps fall during U holidays, so those in U have no excuse to defer. Cus our CO then was a staff in one of the local U! He knows the schedule, can't smoke him out!! Hahaha!!!! Now, most of those in U have graduated, so ICT can be anytime.Originally posted by Shotgun:Hahah, yeah, even if they send me notification, i will still defer, cos im a full time student now. LOL! i knew mine before i ord.Originally posted by Gordonator:may i ask something? it might be years before u get called for up for your 1st ICT but within 1 year of ORD u will know your reservist unit right?![]()
Nope. The guy I meant who came back after 7 years just knew he was on the "holding list" for the 7 years. Maybe he just slipped through the cracks of the system... maybe not.Originally posted by Gordonator:may i ask something? it might be years before u get called for up for your 1st ICT but within 1 year of ORD u will know your reservist unit right?![]()

Heard that reservist are more siong than during active days.Originally posted by Gordonator:i understand that for JC students after NS the majority will further their studies in universities therefore they will only get called up for ICTs 4 years later, after they have graduated and found a job.
but for poly students, the majority won't be going to universities so why must they wait so long to get call up? or will poly students get call up than their JC counterparts?
There are alot of poly grads taking extenal degrees, going overseas for degrees, and taking degrees in SMU,NUS,NTU.Originally posted by Gordonator:i understand that for JC students after NS the majority will further their studies in universities therefore they will only get called up for ICTs 4 years later, after they have graduated and found a job.

not really. maybe it's because during reservist one is not as fit as during one's younger days.Originally posted by gnoik:Heard that reservist are more siong than during active days.

It all depends on your unit. If you are from combat unit, odds are you will be called up faster.Originally posted by Gordonator:i understand that for JC students after NS the majority will further their studies in universities therefore they will only get called up for ICTs 4 years later, after they have graduated and found a job.

No lah. My reservist even though combat unit, still not so siong. No SOC, no 5BX, no... well, a lot of the silly crap that they do in the active units.Originally posted by gnoik:Heard that reservist are more siong than during active days.

In terms of training. You just have to make yourself find the time and of course get started. Once you do, just keep at it regularly. And do push yourself lah. If you find the exercises too easy, odds are it's not to the level of passing IPPT - unless you darn fit lah.Originally posted by elspeth:any idea or tips for how a newbie who hasn't been excercising for a long time can start off?
as in how many sets and how many excercises per set and how long to rest in between sets...?
yesterday i just tried to start off with about 10 push ups and 20 crunches but i couldn't even complete them with ease... die lar.. my arms were trembling whilst doing the push ups...
and btw how do u all gauge how far in dist have you all run if u run rd the neighbourhood? and not stadium track.
