Woot!!! Woot woot!! The 3SG should be promoted to 2SG, for this superb search skills, or get best Spec of the month! Woot!Originally posted by kiddyduck:Since the news of this incident is on TV I shall tell you more!! hehe...
Yes M16 rifle was lost. Thats for true. I heard the comms through my signal set during Wanderer. The detail was resting in a clearing and they exchange carrying the signal set. This maybe the time the rifle was left on the ground.
When we went back to the night end point, our CSM was checking all the rifles butt numbers... A small search party was activated soon. Next morning 2 coys were activated to conduct a carpet search in the probable lost area. The location we combed is very bushy and swampy... The whole area were guarded by Provost.
Afternoon, dogs from combat engineers and pioneer platoon metal detectors were dispatched. 2 more coys were tasked to join the search. The other coys which have booked out are being called back as standby.
At night, the Ops order are given and 3 coys were sent to lay cylum sticks at checkpoints to facilate the 3SIR. Midnight, 3SIR arrive with search lights. Morning, a 3sgt found the rifle near the night start point, which is out of the probable areas.![]()
lol i heard that after they found it, the sgts gathered around and started dancing around it.Originally posted by nightzip:Woot!!! Woot woot!! The 3SG should be promoted to 2SG, for this superb search skills, or get best Spec of the month! Woot!![]()

All hail 3SIR.Originally posted by nightzip:ok, no serial no. for the M-16, then how about the name of the 3SG from 3SIR, my sister unit, who made proud the infantry regiment!![]()
I hink if the rifle is recovered, punishment should not be too heavy.Originally posted by Guile:I think its because the item is lost at a location where it is easily accesible by the public. its beside the road and near a golf course.
So they arent taking any chances as who knows some illegal may be harbouring in that area and happen to stumble upon it.
Somebody may have noticed the comotion at the area while travelling along the road and called a reporter.
The trainee is gonna get DB for sure, i knew someone in my unit who lost a rifle and was sent to db too.

Nah... it would take more than a miracle to keep the guy out of DB.Originally posted by will4:I hink if the rifle is recovered, punishment should not be too heavy.
He is waiting to book in on the night of CNY Day 3 and get formally charged on the morning of CNY Day 4.Originally posted by fudgester:Nah... it would take more than a miracle to keep the guy out of DB.
Hei Ma Guo Lin definitely cannot work liao.....although many people think the whole incident is An Du Chen Cang but i think its as reported...Originally posted by fudgester:Nah... it would take more than a miracle to keep the guy out of DB.
If it had been recovered within a few hours by his own coy then it won't be so bad... his coy can still cover it up and give him a few extras and confinements.
If it goes up to SISPEC HQ then it's worse... but they can still keep the issue within SISPEC and give him a few days of RP.
If it goes up to Division level then it's really, really bad... the fact that Div Comd himself went all the way down says that the guy is really going to get his backside buttered. There are few mistakes in the SAF which warrant getting a general out in the field. Minimum DB, I say.
If it goes into the news then it's really, really, REALLY bad. This is a serious slap in the face for the SAF. It's bad enough that the guy lost his rifle. It's even worse when that incident is shouted out to the whole of Singapore. Definite DB.
Heck, I won't be surprised if this little incident appears in the columns of some foreign newspapers. I think I remember reading an article about how a British major lost her revolver in a public toilet.
So there is virtually no way on earth he can escape heavy punishment.
That said, I sure wish they'd go easy on the kid.![]()
If there is one issue that needs to be addressed, it's that University entry must never be impacted by any instances of time served in DB.Why condemn the man for life for a mistake done in the Army?Originally posted by fudgester:Nah... it would take more than a miracle to keep the guy out of DB.

Well,I'm still thinking that with the high profile of this case, SIB will be very fairand thorough with the investigation.I seriously hope that his future should not be ruined by one incident. The poor chap must be crapping bricks by now, and I'm sure he will never want to screw up in any form ever again.Originally posted by nightzip:well, IF the BG Winston, or 9Div commander is ever so kind-hearted, perhaps he could intervene and gave him a lighter sentence.
But those specs, like me, should remember how REGIMENTAL SISPEC is, especially all the SISPEC OCs!!! All the master and senior warrants officers are very regimental, small small stuffs can give you extras this and that, let to say this one!
Only CO SISPEC, Bdr Cmdr, and Dv Cmdr can help him now.![]()
I am curious if after BMT, forced to go to SISPEC, can ask our parent to speak to MINDEF not let us go to SISPEC? If given extra in SISPEC, can we ask our parent to complain to CO SISPEC?Originally posted by nightzip:well, IF the BG Winston, or 9Div commander is ever so kind-hearted, perhaps he could intervene and gave him a lighter sentence.
