Deferment

  I am currently going to take a part-time degree while at the same time doing a full-time job. Question is what can i do if i am called up for ICT? Can i ask for deferment until i am havinh break? Pls help thanks

  you can try writing in immediately after you received the ICT letter.
  
  deferment is subject to approval by your commanding officer. the earlier you write in the better the chance.
  
  of course your reason for deferment must be something acceptable.

  I dun tink can get deferrment cos it's only part time degree. But can try anyway~

  Thanks for the above replies..anyone there who actually face the same problem as me? Can let me know what you did to solve this problem? Is it remotely possible for me to defer and go back for ICT during my holiday period? Thanks

  Taking PT degree locally, can very much forget about any chance of deferment.

  but u can talk to your PC or OC first.. let them know that you are studing part time. Maybe they can let u go attend class at certain night during ICT, when there might not be any training. This have happen in my unit as well.

  I dun think NSSC will defer your deferment based on the context of deferment criteria. But your CO will have the final say on compassion background, i.e. whether your unit is having a local/overseas ICT, unit is undergoing evaluation, red alert standby ...
  
  FYI, part-time degree is not listed in the deferment criteria. You might want to seek for time-off to attend your night class during ICT if it is held in local.

  Think unlikely they will grant deferment (unless maybe if crashed with your exam time period).
  But I do know of cases where the reservist are granted time off to attend class in the evening (but must book in after class) where the training schedule permits, but this is subject to the goodwill of the OC/PC (not entitlement).
