But wat i advise is go thro BMT then go unit see see first. I got some frens who signed on as guards but regretted later. Cos this is not like working outside,. When u feel like resigning u just throw ur letter.

when u want to sign on your OC/CO will keep asking u whether u really want to sign on........is that army really ur choice...dat happened to my fren..in the end..i think they got to him.....haha..he didn't..haha..

counterstrike macham buy artic , shoot a few round , 3 minute over....
haha , one commando told me that he regretted signing on....imagine 6 or 10 years of running everyday... then retire at 40 years old , but if he become encik he will be lucky -

PES status up till C9L2 is still field deployable
u still maybe send to field for EX but others chiong, u be supporting

so pls experience the real thing b4 u decide on anything, bery few pple i know have the real passion for it

Sniper is open only to about 60-80 people annually. One sniper course typically have 40 ppl and 25% are expected to OOC.
You cannot choose to be sniper.
If you sign on, you follow the "tour" system, not "vocation". I don't think you do "sect comd" tour as a sniper.
as for your impression of Army, be ready to be disappointed.
We are an army made of people without the passion.
Scholars sign on on the prospects, not that they love the army. they make supposedly good policies but do not look into its impact in-depth. They do not have the military mentalism.
Diploma holders sign on on initial enthusiam, only to find out their promotions are slow and later years their peers have a better life outside the army.
CSMs/WOs sign on as that's their only choice or they face worst propects outside.
LaserLordz, i know you are a regular, don't be offended, it's just that i am sad for our army to be in such a state. Otherwise i really have faith in the army, given our funding and equipment and supposedly good policies, directives in place that no one follows. -

If you *strongly suggest* to your MO that you want to take the King's shilling, he would most probably back down just enough to grant you a temporary status of PES D. During this time, go to a civillian doctor and get yourself certified fit. For example, if the reason you PEC C now is cos u went for an operation last time, return to your surgeon and beg him to give you a clean bill of health.
The important thing is that from now on, you CANNOT report sick cos of problems related to that. For example, if you had say back surgery, and got your surgeon to certify you combat fit and are now PES B, if you report sick for back injury after an Airborne jump (which can happen to even PES A ppl...) it will be viewed as YOUR fault. So think VERY carefully.
Anyway, if you're really in it for the 'adventure' you can always sign on for the 3 years contract (Officer) or try for the Premium Plan for Spec. Something short-term where you still have *some* say about your vocation. People going for the adventure should try short-term careers so as to have some influence over their posting, yet not be stuck for too long in a career they are patently unsuited for but did not realize it before signing the dotted line. At least you can maintain *some* enthusiasm for the length of 3 years! -
You are not immature, you are just ambitious and maybe love your country very much. I am a combat medic from an armour unit, i just ord 1 and a half year ago. I have to attend Mob briefing, mob session and ICT about 4 tmes in just a year. Two of those times are just within 2 months when i just ORD. I am now training for my IPPT which is scheduled in June. My boss threaten if i fail my IPPT and have to take time off to attend Remedial TRAINING (RT), i will be fired.
When i was an NSF, i seen lots of Out of Course (OOC) Guys from BMT who are attached to be storeman ad clerks. At first they will boast that they will pass in their BMT recourse easily and went to be in OCS (watever). After a while when their recourse date are nearing, most of these guys are scare of stepping out of their comfort zone. They will beg their OC to defer or see doctor to escape. I only seen 2 guys who are storeman who went for recourse and pass out and they are revocated to combat post after that.
You keep on singing praises for the army regulars why not sing some praises for the NSF guys as well. Maybe it is peers pressure that make you want to upgrade your status. All i want to say is that you can say watever you want, ONLY IF YOU CAN BACK IT UP. In my own opinion i think after your bmt, you will not want to step out of the comfort zone of a non combat soldier. That is just my opinion, sorry if i offend you cause i am quite fed-up that you only salute the army regulars. The NSF and NS men deserves to be in the same league as the Army regulars.

I got a friend in sispec, very garang, took alot of body building supplements then didn't take enough fluid and kenna ANAL TEAR.... when shitting hhahaa...
after that still very garang... hahaa, quite a good loyal soldier...
I believe anyone can be trained to carry a gun and fight... but not everyone is suitable to be a soldier... A solider needs a hell lot of committment to what his doing. Many a times the things u do in NS esp after ur training phase... is a lot of mundane routine work such as officer or spec duties. Overtime, it becomes tedious and dreadful. Initially those outfield may be fun, but after a while it becomes boring too. It kinda makes u appreciate ur civilian life more. I cannot imagine how tough life is for those soldiers stationing in Iraq.
You will see true colours of some ppl in NS. I dont want to elaborate too much, but I'm sure you will experience it. Try not to go in with any expectations. If you are combat fit, do ur best, but know ur limits too, dont over work ur body... if you are not combat fit... well... there's pros and cons depending on whatever post they assign you. If you are homo, you can join music and dance company... hahhaa. -

In your current PES status, you will not be able to undergo Sniper training.
My advice is for you to undergo a few months of NSF first.
If you still feel like a combat vocation is your cup of tea then ask your PC or OC about the Service Fit Volunteer Scheme. When I enlisted last year, I read that under this scheme people with lower PES status can get a waiver and proceed on to BMTC and Command School (and combat vocations like Sniper) if they are deemed able to survive the specific rigours of training.
Now, this might be a bit dangerous and it's up to you to assess your own physical condition before you do anything. Also, depending on your physical condition, you might not even be accepted under the sceme. I'm only telling you that this scheme (as at early 2005) exists.
