NS: NSF Rank Promotion to Time Period taken from Enlist Date

Promotion for the NSF is to recognise his performance and past contributions during NS. Due to the onerous nature of duties for those deployed in combat vocations, they are promoted earlier than those in service support vocations.
The SAF regularly reviews the promotion guidelines, the last revision to the enlistee promotion guidelines being in 2011 and 2013. Currently, NSFs may be promoted to the Corporal (CPL) rank between the 12th and 18th month of service. The minimum service for promotion to Corporal First Class (CFC) has also been shortened in the 2013 revision.
We would also like to highlight that promotion in rank is not an entitlement: servicemen would have to meet the stipulated minimum criteria to be eligible. Unit Commanders are also given the discretion to assess if a serviceman who qualifies for promotion is deserving of the promotion at the given point in time, after considering the operational requirements of the unit. -
i thought NS duration is based on education level instead of rank?
anyway ORD date not fixed when you enlist meh?
one more thing...you said he's in the 2 yr 4 month batch, then how come can add 4 more months one? -> 2 yr 8 months? -
He is doing 2 years. But his batch is the batch where you still can get 2 year 4 months. So if he is promoted to CPL, he will get 4 months added on to his ORD.
Anyway does anyone have any answers regarding the time frame about promotion from PTE -> LCP followed by LCP -> CPL
Also to answer your (rhetorical) questions, thoreldan : Duration is affected by BOTH the education AND the rank. But education and rank are constantly seen as connected together, unless in the special case of my buddy here. And no, the ORD date at his peoples batches as well as all the 2 1/2 years 2 year 4 months 2 year 2 months batches are not fixed. They will serve 2 years if they are LCP and below and will serve 2 year + their extra months if they are CPL and above.

there's no guarantee time frame for NSF promotion. sometimes it depends on the unit. there are many below diploma/A levels who ORD as PTEs. and LCP is not a rank that is a must give, many goes form PTE to CPL.
the promotion time frame varies, for diploma/A levels, normally after 1 year in service CPC will notify the unit that you are eligible for promotion. but do take note that it is not a 100% thing. there are those who never got their CPL rank until they are very near to their ORD. -

all his OIL got burned and only managed to clear leave. -
i wanna know is it possible for a man (other than combat medic and tech vocation) of rank CPL to be promoted to 3SG during reservist?
for instance, good preformance, volunterring to go for specialist conversion courses or his appointment require him to be a 3SG etc.
can anyone who knows about this tell me more, like what are the other opportunatities etc. -

Rank promotion in reservist is usually determined by performance, and of course it helps if your Sect Comd deferred and you take over his place. -

at least they should give those outstanding man a chance to prove themselves.
However, it is a time-consuming affair not only requiring the outstanding NSmen to attend leadership courses but time is also needed to mould a new commander to assume comfortably in his command and blend with his new subordinates under his charge.
Also, motivation on the servicemen part to undergo such courses, estab issues and conflict of interest(if any) are all attributing factors to be work out.
In my humble opinion, giving monetary incentives, diner vouchers or some sort of outstanding service plaque to servicemen who had performed outstandingly for a period of ICTs as a form of encouragement for their hardwork, works better. -
many CPL(NS) with their rich working experiences, be it as engineers, supervisors or even managers, has as much leardership qualities as their specialists, officers counterparts. in fact many times, a seasoned CPL might knows more than than even their commanders.
so i think it is only fair that these outstanding men be given a change for promotion.
