Ranks might be on the collar for Specialists and below.
Singapore on the upper left pocket?I thought it would be Army , Air Force or Navy.![]()
I GUESS is formation is which Parent unit you belong to like PDF or Division.Originally posted by relackjack:what's the difference between arms and formation?
3G SAF, that's why i say they should use the words "3G ARMY" as the patch than "SINGAPORE"Originally posted by Gordonator:another of their steps toward a 3G SAF ah?![]()
ya lor. for ppl who got the uniform currently got to change new things very troublesome oneOriginally posted by Gordonator:i'm against the idea of putting singapore tag, arms badge, unit patch or even collar ranks on the uniforms. i like the way as what it is now. i don't see the justification for all these new additons.
Obiang?Originally posted by MobyDog:Wha... that would be ugly... like the typical Kuomingtang era uniform.. so obian .. not professional at all.
It would make SAF look weak... I mean look at the waestern uniforms.
i'm talking about no.4 here.Originally posted by chunyong:but u see the uniform can know its which dept, Navy is lite blue, Navy white...mah.
I mean having small badges is ok... it just that having to much woven badges bunched together is obscene in camo fag. And size of it also matter.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Obiang?
I think its the other way around.
Having the badges will improve unit pride and improve the professional image of our combat dress uniform when worn on post and off post. The Army had formation and vocational badging a long time ago, and I feel that there will be a future need for a change of camouflage too, especially if more units are geared towards urban warfare and peacekeeping duties in areas which are not primarily jungle in nature.
Perhaps a second type of uniform then.

Their respective service arms I suppose.Originally posted by Gordonator:what about those clerks, storemen, drivers, RPs, lifeguards, messboys? what will they put on their uniforms?

The badges have to be stylised and be in proper typography and colour.I'd prefer them to be in the olive and green combination, etched and stitched to have a subdued look.Originally posted by bcoy:I've seen photos where uniforms have the "Singapore" tag.
The rest of it sounds just like the 1970s'. Odd - 3G army with 1G type of badges from the old days.
I remember my brother having a formation badge on his uniform in the 70's.
With the arms badge on the collar - does that mean there will be no need for a guards tag? Also, with no 21st or 25th Div logos - a general formation badge will be used instead like the old days?
