Precisely, perhaps all the ranks will move to the collar, as per another old rumoured plan.Originally posted by Gordonator:it will look very weird on officers and warrant officers. they have singapura on their epaulettes and singapore above their pocket. doesn't the higher ups ever thought of this when they approve this silly idea.![]()
no, i like the way it is now. officer ranks on the epaulettes and specialists/man on the sleeves. i don't see any reasons at all to change it.Originally posted by off_service:I would rather they change all ranks to epaulettes. At least looks more uniformed across the SAF and Home Team.
Also bears the meaning of "bearing the responsibilities on the shoulders".
Of course the bad thing is, LCP and CPL will look like WOs, 3SG will look like CPT and 2SG and above with lots of arrows...
Police & SCDF don't have that problem so why should SAF?Originally posted by off_service:Of course the bad thing is, LCP and CPL will look like WOs, 3SG will look like CPT and 2SG and above with lots of arrows...
yes. heard of that before the discussion regarding vocational badging.Originally posted by wuming78:there were some rumours that all the ranks should be worn on the collars rather than shoulders, as the ranks on the shoulders tend to be concealed, especially since the SAF is moving towards the LBV as a replacement for the current SBO.
Desert camo? For overseas UN missions?Originally posted by LazerLordz:yes. heard of that before the discussion regarding vocational badging.
in fact, before that, i had heard of a rumour that we will be issuing desert camo.![]()
that's the same format as the new US Army's ACU.Originally posted by bcoy:Desert camo? For overseas UN missions?
Anyway - some european countries use/place their rank in the middle of their chest (between the top first and second buttons of the shirt). There was a Brit Lt. Colonel at AA2006 with such a placement.

epaulette ranks can be worn on the LBV itself.Originally posted by wuming78:there were some rumours that all the ranks should be worn on the collars rather than shoulders, as the ranks on the shoulders tend to be concealed, especially since the SAF is moving towards the LBV as a replacement for the current SBO.
SPF and SCDF their rank and the uniform colour has strong colour contrasts, silver over dark blue and gold over dark blue.Originally posted by sgf:Police & SCDF don't have that problem so why should SAF?
it's supposed to be tactically concealed. which is why the US Army also changed their combat flag patch to subdued grey.Originally posted by off_service:SPF and SCDF their rank and the uniform colour has strong colour contrasts, silver over dark blue and gold over dark blue.
What abt army no. 4? Sometimes you can't even see a commissioned officer's rank clearly!![]()
Yup, I'm just replying to sgf's reply that why SPF and SCDF have no problems with ranks on shoulders.Originally posted by LazerLordz:it's supposed to be tactically concealed. which is why the US Army also changed their combat flag patch to subdued grey.
