How will my NS be like ?

  I'm now turning 17 and just came out from my operation to remove part of intestine due to bleeding. Going to take Sec 4 next year and Poly after that. I'm wondering how will my NS life be like?

  follow-up specialist appointment keep saying pain pain pain, then after that complain everything relevant to your problem all the way until you get discharged.
  
  then get a specialist letter, throw at MO during medical checkup and say feel very weak, all sort of problems...

  It looks like going to be 3-4 years away anyway.
  
  But what ever documents you have about this operation.. KEEP it well. just in case you need to downgrade in future.

  If u haben go for the CMPB check up, bring up the matter to the Medical Officer when you see them. Dun need to be scare of them, you are just stating what is the truth so they cannot say you chow keng.

  If I were to tell my surgeon that I'm in pain, I will definately need to stay for another week in hospital ! That's not going to work for me.

  I haven't receive the letter. But was told that all boys above 17 will receive their enlistment letter. Is it true?

  If the surgery will affect you in a permanent way... YES. you may have a case to downgrade.
  
  So if you think it will affect you permanently, you will need to ask your doctor now to write whatever letters possible.

  I'm not sure how permanent it is because I've people who underwent surgery of the intestine and years later, after jogging, their intestine got twisted and require surgery again.

  17 and half. Not 17, my friends who just turned 17 and half all received their letters and deferred already. Mines in a few months time around june since im december baby.

  i had a surgery when i was below 5yrs old... and it still counted.

  My Birthday is in May, so I'll receive it in Dec ? By then, I won't be seeing my surgeon or specialist anymore.

  Not so easy...MOs look at each case on its merits. You can have your surgery 6 months ago but you may still not be downgraded. The only sort of surgery that will guarantee a downgrade is a sex-change operation..
