Well,to those NSF newbies, in army in general,don't assume too much and don't get your hopes too high.Don't plan in advance too much for your weekends also.I may sound very cynical,but welcome to the REAL army.You sorta seen glimpses of what the REAL army is like in BMT right?

they got route march..but the content of the field pack is laughable....hehe
SOC is called MOC...or medic obstacle course....up to the instructors discretion....there are several stations (varying distances depending on ure chief instructor)....IV..CPR....bandaging of wounds...burns...amputations..fractures...crossing of obstacles...all this with an 80kg dummy on a stretcher..u'd get mentally wasted..if u go to the BSLC Spec II course...u practically run with the stretcher...no walking...its all abt team work...MOC if spiced up is mentally and intellectually demanding as u have to remember lots of stuffs u learn...
to me....i never went thru CMC but i went thru the SPEC II course...wat kills u is the material u gotta study.....1st few weeks u'd be like har???har??har??...by end of course..u got ure own medical lingo -

Basically you are gonna be training to be a man onboard RSN ships. 3 months of niauh to clear admin stuff or so they claim (i mean really really niauh, wake up zho bo until night.. you'd be banging the wall to find something to do. Sometimes i bloody wonder why they make us stay in during this period). Followed by 2 months of basic seamanship course and you'll see where you wanna spec to afterwards (gunner, radar ops, navigator etc). Your spec vocations decides your time at Panglima before getting posted to a ship.
Prepare for a huge huge culture shock from Army to Navy is all i can say. Navy traditions are followed here like rounds and colors (fun stuff!). If you are a smoker, good bloody luck lol. Panglima is the only base in Singapore that is smoke free.. get caught smoking, sign 4 extras. Base itself is clean (got uncle aunties clean for you lol) but you must clean your bunks and toilets ala tekong. Panglima was built last year so facilities are still pretty rad. Oh, the ISM (equal to your CSM in tekong) likes to poke and wack ppl's 11B out.. guys in green especially.. so just be pepared la.
p/s: Lots of swimming yes.. but once you pass your swimming CAT test they wldnt ka-chiao you. And it is wise to pass your swimming test asap or it will get hellish afterwards ie: waking up everyday 530am to go swimming.. -
