I'm wondering, would a pilot applicant with childhood asthma be rejected on medical grounds?
I know of a friend who applied to be a pilot and had childhood asthma (but I don't know till how old) but has no asthma now, and was rejected by the RSAF due to that.
Whereas I know of another person, who had a history of asthma, but doesnt have now, and also applied for pilot, had to go for a methacholine challenge test (MCT) (which determines whether you have asthma or not) but failed so he couldn't get in.
So i'm currently wondering whether having childhood asthma or a history of asthma would immediately disqualify a person from pilot training in the RSAF, or would they just have to go for the MCT to determine it...and does the age where your bout of asthma occured be important? anyone with any information on this would be appreciated =)
