  i understand xin jiao can get nervous when it come to new posting. but the best advise is for you go through it youself rather than hear all the things we said and ended up having false expectations, fears, worries etc.

  Rockhound, if you are going to a SIR to be a junior commander, the best advice I can give you is not to go in charging and making them dislike you for being overbearing.
  
  Scope their culture, then modify your style of leadership.Make them feel you are on their side first.It's always the case with any leadership role.You need to make them feel that they matter.

  ah...amoy quee camp brings back memories!
  
  the place is a little run down and out of the way...
  
  during my time there...
  
  1-the canteen still had arcade machines.
  2-the canteen middle stall had this sandwich thingy with lotsa mayo. YUM
  3-the caterer behind the officer's mess had cheap and super oily chicken cutlet in huge portions.
  
  Heard the current RSM is a SAFSA runner. Also has some kinda paikia tattoo on his back. Not sure whether its a Guan Yin or a carp. He once made a 2SG cry. Not a good person to play around with.
