Motivating NSFs

Any suggestions for encouraging service NSFs to be more motivated towards their work during their office hours (eg. Cash bonus, off-in-lieu)?

i usually teach them to work smart.

go get those pretty S1 or clerks....wear revealing n sexy clothes...sure motivating...confirm no NSF MC for a min. of 3mths....

1. Explain the rationale behind the purpose of the task
2. Set small targets for them to achieve
3. Figure out a reward at the end of a period of time.. say 1 week or 2.
4. Get them going...
5. Dun forget to praise them for their good job, or comment on their quality of work if it's less than ideal.
NSF are still human beings afterall,... some praises will go a long way, for morale...
As a superior to them (I suppose you are), you have to set your expectations lower, else their work will most likely be not up to par (I assume you are a good producer of work as well).

listen to them and explain purposea nd need for tasks to them. they are not idiots who are just happy to do stuff without a proper rationale. -

Increase the pay of NSF according to their education level.This will certainly be FAIR

In most scenarios, Personal achievements, personal pride and inspiration pushes a person to become more than what he is.

scdf now applying praises instead of punishments..
alot of welfare now.. the recruits are happier.. but well... more sloppy ba.

It's a farce for a 3SG to do the actual estab work of 2 2WOs. -
NSFs care only about 1 thing -> off days.
why should i bother putting in so much effort when i'm not getting any reward?
praises don't do any good. i'd prefer something tangible.
threatening to punish/charge them won't make them work harder. -

As a Comd, you used to have 2 tools in your toolbox. the carrot and the stick.
Carrot = reward them with nights off, canteen breaks, etc. etc.
Stick = pushups, extras, SOL, DB.. what f*** have you.
What's a new tool? possibly a motivator. however, in order to motivate them, they need to be a right frame of mind first.
What motivates a person? A reason to BENEFIT themself, this may not be a selfish reason because benefitting themselves can be a mutal thing i.e. what an NSF may learn and grow from a job may benefit the organisation. When you see such ppl, cultivate these ppl using the avail. tools you have to MOTIVATE them.
in short, what motivates them? YOU! and you use that using the tools avail to youself.
P.S. i've met some NSFs who do not seem to want to be motivated in any other way other than the "stick". and sadly, that accounts for quite a lot of NSFs.

Hmm..How nice will it be if one day NSF can actually be retrenched or sacked (without the possibility of DB first)....Wouldn't it be nice??If really can, i think no NSF will bother to do anything...

And what logic is there to pay a graduate corporal (Example) more money just to sit in office do nothing as opposed to a Poly grad combat specialist? I'll have to disagree with using education level as the basis. Using responsibilities would be more appropriate. -
