Shorten NS by increasing productivity

Can this this be done ?
The phrase ‘ rush to wait, wait to rush’ is commonly heard. Can this be cut down?
Can we cut short down on gathering?
Let the grassroots and voluntary social organizations to slowly take over and organize the National Day celebration
Not overly focused in physical trainings that is aimed at the passing IPPT or SOC.
Cut on time-consuming range re-shooting. Poor shooters only small numbers can provide simulated training. Even pilots also got simulated trainings.
May be the authority could have a unit to look into whether there is area which is not necessary or how time can be shorten to achieve the same results. Even a day counts.

For other ranks now have to serve up to age 40. If your unit do not call you up
for many many years dont be happy. could end up dashing the jungle with people ten years younger then you, when they start digging up the files. Fancy doing RT at age 39+. -

actually the current NS system is very short already. if u manages to get silver before enlistment, that's 2 months off. minus off your leaves, offs, MCs etc, that's another 2 months off. ends up u serve only 20 months. still want to shorthen somemore?

NS WAS 3 years for Officers last time.
anyway, my idiotic RSM said that we actually serve NS for about 250 days.
2 years = 730 days..
104 weekends
28 leave
"officially" 7 off in lieu
estimated 40 offs
about 110-120 days spent sleeping (7 hours of sleep 5 days a week)
40 days (about 1-2 hours after meals no training) No training means not serving.
40 days rush to wait, wait to rush waiting time.
40 days 1-2 hours travelling to and fro camp
20 public holidays. -
Strictly speaking males reaching 18 cannot leave Singapore till 40 for other ranks once enlisted. For practical reasons they issue ‘permits’ to facilitate trade, education etc

I used to be a clerk in charge of reservist matter. If a reservist wanto immigrate, he can only apply for two year exit permit. Indeed. In fact the present system with the 'permits issuance' can be reverted to the " strictly no exit for that age 18-40 or 18-50 "without having to change the law. With the new recent ruling the age has been lowered to 13, to obtain permits for overseas stay that is more than 6 months.
In a way I think somehow the system achieved the success of ‘legally rooting’ the servicemen. Any overseas stay outside the purview of the permits’ system is illegal. -

And if each day the RT (remedial trainings for those who fail IPPT) the number of personnels is about 450±. You can work out the figure if you take into account two lots of RT per week, 3 camps are doing it and waiting time of up to 2 months to get a slot.
Does it shed light that Sporeans simply cannot cope with the current high standards of IPPT? -

Even as the second generation PRs are required to do National Service, the work permit holders are taking up jobs here from neighbouring countries after completing their education. These are young work permit holders armed with qualifications in their early 20s entering the jobs market and free from lifelong National Service obligations.
Is this an area that the authority should look into? -
May be we should build a suspension bridge to Tekong to cut down on travel time.

Here's a simple and effective way to minimise NS time - cut down on RT by keeping that flabby ass of yours in shape. That'll also increase your productivity by minimising the amount of time you waste whinging about RT.
There we go - problem solved. NEXT! -
