No point cutting outside. By default you go to the camp barber and they won't remember you (if you are thinking of giving them a good first impression) if you cut outside. If really you dun need to cut by the camp barber, you risk having a different hairstyle than the rest and kenna marked.
Trust me, you dun want that to happen. -

Official Statement from Ex-BMT instructor..
There is no fixed rules on hair cutting on enlistment day.
Some company will send the entire company for hair cutting, up to the barber to decide if your hair need to be cut. But some barber play basted with you, he say his clipper cut abit, that means must pay. So he purposely press his clipper down very hard to cut.
Some company will select ppl who needs to cut hair. THose in line with the standard need not cut.
