Rip stop is the method they sew their cloth. When a rip stop tear, it will only tear unitl the small square and will not cost the whole material to tear!

The guy on the left is wearing the CADPAT, The guy on the right is wearing the desert CADPAT. -
For your information...
If your number 4 tag is "Hong Seng" brand, it's made in China. The pre-2003 issue have a "made in china" tag which has since been removed.
THe "Johsen" brand i suspect is Locally made but i can't confirm.
I prefer the Johsen brand No 4 over the Hong Seng one.
Hong Seng one gets "furry" after some time. -
So the uniforms really do have brands? Hey, then I think those made in Beach Road are the best quality?

i was issued the 'Hong Seng' brand, all 5 of them. but i bought myself 1 set of Johsen for parade use.
actually i find it easier to fold smart 4 with the 'Hong Seng' brand.

The shirt you see it is actually a US old six colour desert camo. I think it is not very good camo i the desert. The best so far is the UK type DPM desert camo.

There was a photo of our SAF soldiers in desert camo, it was part of the RSAF group photo before their deployment to Iraq, let me try to find it.

ya..... like the pilot's flight suit. personally i feel that one solid color works pretty well in the desert...
