  I was in Sam Hill camp last year ... the daily temperature in day time never fail to exceed 40degC.

  If I have a chance, would like to go there! Heard the SAF will give you special Fleece jacket to keep you warm! Any other special equipment they give?

  sorry champ but there is no internet access at either sam hill or camp growl...only pay phones.the only computers there is are used by my work(PIQ)and the obs room,major officers,and tech team.the phone lines arent even permanantly there,we have to set them up when we set up camp before you guys arrive......so they are only basic phone lines.about the only time you will get acces to the internet is when you go for your r&r.....there is internet cafes in Rockhampton(the nearest town,about one and a half hours drive from camp)i know it is hard for you guys....but its not as bad as you think.by the way....you wont get mobile phone reception there,so there is no use bringing a hand phone to use at camp.sam hill gets reception in some places,but camp growl only has in one place,and that is right where the drivers tents are.its almost impossible to even find it,so its pretty much a waste of time.as for psp and mp3's.....they are a good idea,but i'll give you a tip.if you are going to sit in the shower blocks and have them plugged into the power supply while your using them......when the cleaners come in to clean the block(happens twice a day)move out of their way as fast as you can! get all electrical appliances out of their,because they work with high pressured hot water hoses that wash everything away,and sometimes accidents happen.last year some poor infantry guy didnt get out of their way,and he lost his ngage,hand phone,mp3,and psp.the guys wouldnt listen to us,they are not supposed to sit in the shower blocks all day.....our cleaners have a limited amount of time to get all the blocks clean....so if you dont listen..you'll learn the hard way.its a lot of fun though...and i promise you that you'll meet a lot of great people!
