when i'm still a NSF. i going thail n NZ for training. our passport must be more than 6 month b4 expiry. if it's less than 6 months then have to go renew it.

Simple, you don't have to go thru customs.
When you're back, you'll be getting out thru changi airport's freight area, then wait there like an idiot for 4 hours till your indented bus arrives. -

Depends on your appointment, the country you are going, and if the country you go have pre-agreed arrangements.
THree general modes of travelling overseas representing, SAF.
1) Travel by nominal roll,
Receiving country will receive a copy of your photo, and id details. Just present yourself at their airport, they will just stamp your in/out endorsment in SAF's copy of the list.
2) Travel by Passport
Just like any other travel. Usually for countries where SAF do not have regular training with OR that country's law do not provide for such arrangements.
Some service personnel in the frame who will travel by nominal roll will travel using passports, this is in case there is emergency they will need to leave without the others.
3) Diplomatic Passage
SAF will go thru Mindef and Foreign Affairs who will request admission of servicepersonel into that country. Usually for last minute incidents (eg, Tsunami). -
Or u can tio arrowed to go to the freight area 4 hours before the airplane to "welcome" them back then wait with the rest of the idiots for another 4 hours for the indented bus. But again kena cock-up and wait for 2 hours for the bloody replacement tonners to arrived. Finally, everyone loaded. i forget to mention, now don't use freight area for servicepersonnel anymore.
same goes for returning ops boxes.
only ops boxes and duffle bags being sent over use frieght area. -

when the troops left australia last year they flew straight from rockhampton to singapore on an saf plane.
we dont have international flights from rockhampton,so they did not have to go through customs.thats as much as i know though.

during my time i rem no need passport... jus show e custom 11b can liao... but of course cannot buy any duty free stuff inside lah...

During my time, can only buy duty free according to customs regulation and thru nominal roll, go back singapore then pay.

i think SAF/Customs have shifted policies so that SAF personnel now are as if civilians going overseas. This will mean customs are responsible for the things soliders bring in.
In the past, all overseas exercise are strictly military... Customs formaility are done by Provost Zone Coy. -
When going to countries which normally require a visa sometimes you'll be issued a document which states the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) which is like a formal agreement between armed forces, hence waiving the requirement of visa.

they will go by SAF charted plane. you will be goin as a SAF personal . all the arrangement will be done by MINDEF
