If any recruit or soldier dares hit a comm or non-comm officer, the fella confirm mati.
I speak of my own and company's comm and non-comm officers. If they dished out a punishment, there is always a good reason for it. They will not do it out of whims and fancy. Afterall, they all had been soldiers before.
Because punishments are dished out a for good reason, and done fairly (that is unbaised), after a while, the soldiers tend to realise the reason. In fact, the so called "gangsters" are usually the first ones to "get it". Maybe because they are all out in the society earlier and street-smart.
I had taken before a few batches of lower-education level recruits at one time and the gangsters are in fact my favourite.
They tend to be mentally tougher than schoolers. They will "get it" very quickly and respond appropriately very quickly. So they never get punished for long. Not only do they not go against the the instructors, they even act as extensions of instructors. There are actual cases where they "enforce discipline" on their own initiative on the other "sabo kings" in the platoons up in the bunk.
Because they are more mature, mentally tougher and faster to get it, they can get whacked by the instructors but remain cheerful and be very friendly with the instructors. -
actually ah bengs soldiers are easy to get along with as long as u don't look down on the. they very
one, botherhood kinda thing. as commanders, once u manages to click with them, understand them, maybe spend some time talk cock with them. they will listen to u 1 lah. -

Told me straight in my face...
" During rifle firing, i kicked one of my recruit who don't know how to shoot.
Trained him so many time also don't know...and i feel so shok...after kicking him many times..."( and he still can smile at me...)
Upon hearing this...i so angry and walked away...asking myself how can he do such thing on recruit...
Lucky recruits did not use the damn rifle to shoot him.

NOT following the chain of command is the FASTEST way of getting things done, trust me. Following usually means 6 months to pass the news to the top, and another 6 months to pass the reply back. While i was waiting for my contract to be approved (7 months with no news) i got damn pissed and approached my CO during the Base Cohesion Day (do keep in mind it's not often i get to see him, as iOriginally posted by monoslayer:proper channel leh.. must observe chain of command..
