I manage to try this new field pack as my friend is from 6SIR. This new field pack is great. Huge capacity and the cusion quite comfortable. There is 2 pouches which can be attach to the field pack which the picture above doesn't show. The field pack still can "extend" increasing its capacity. Look at the picture posted above, at the bottom there is a zip. The zip is not for accessing into the field pack but if you unzip, the field pack will "extend" its length thus increasing its capacity.

This looks different from the one used by 3rd Gds. When will Mindef choose a standard, or will there be different packs for different units?

nice pack. but big pack= can carry more stuff= more load!!!
i rather have my small pack. anyway, armour don't need such packs. 2 person share one pack. but the LBV would be nice. save space in the IFV. -

6 SIR is the designated POI battalion right? So do they still do perform normal infantry "chiong sua" missions? If not, can someone explain the rational of their own swanky fieldpacks? I don't think they do patrols in Changi Airport in FBO hmm..

Maybe it's because the POI battalion thats why they can carry bigger fullpack (heavier load), since they don't have to walk very far with it!
Besides if you are only stationed in one location for long time, might as well carry the "extras" that make life more comfortable.
