Sq 117 hijack

I just need more information on it, the sources which i read from give very vague information.Dont worry, i wont ask classified information.
1)Were the hijackers armed with anything dangerous?
2)Who dragged the steward away when he was pushed out of the plane
3)What weapons did SOF used during that time.

i wonder how many commandos stormed the plane..

No mention of types of weapons used....but at least it was a good impression shown by our very own Commandos....were they trained by Israelis at that time?

I think I've posted comments regarding this topic. While the negotiationis still going on, the SOF was doing drills on storming into the plane in the airport using a same plane model. The air steward which was release told them the Parkistani was only equip with scissors and butter knives

The aircraft was involved was an Airbus A310-300 . Hope that helps.

the hijackers mistake was to release the steward. and thus was able to give the authorities vital information. hahah way to go hijackers!!

One passenger account was that a few of the hijackers had some fire-crackers which looked like explosives (ie dynamite) or maybe a few grenades (unconfirmed). Read that from a book about the incident.

but the weapons used at that time was not MP5.
They used M16 to storm the plane.
Yes, i feel it is abit unwieldy to use M16, but if you refer to newspapers back at 1991 (go NLB). They show you pictures of them getting ready to storm the plane.
I have a feeling MP5 weren't used back then because SOF did not have MP5 back then. -
1) Hijackers weren't armed if anymore more than firecrackers and knives from the cabin itself.
2) The steward was pushed off the plane and the plane moved to another location. Anybody couuld have rescued him since the plane isn't nearby.
3) as answered... M16.
You might want to know that several SIA girls were molested during the hijack.
Basically the hijackers were just some amateur ppl and not hardcore. -

You may want to read "Hijack SQ117 - the untold story" by Sumiko Tan. The book has some photos.
I believe the team that went into the plane had MP5s, as described in the book. The others involved on the ground - eg. securing passengers, parameter defense, etc. had M16s, etc.
I was doing my NS back then, on the night of the hijack - it so happens that my company were on 2NTM. I think there were a number of units on that particular day.
Also, during the SOF recruitment briefings, they came with some of their equipment and had MP5s. -

But back then, i clearly remembered it was M16 they used. But then again, news reporters may have mistaken the perimeter defence as SOF.
But i remember the masked ones were carrying M16 too.
How i remember it clearly was that i find it odd they stormed the plane using M16. -
