Had this guy in my platoon during BMT, always smiling and cheerful usually. He was a bit weak, but was always willing to do whatever needed to be done. Hardly complained. Suspected he was a tad slow in thought.
One day in the 3 tonner on the way back to camp after a siong outfield training, the PS asked him to sing a song. He insisted he didn't know how, when the PS suggested one of the army songs, he kept quiet for a bit... then suddenly there were tears streaming down his face. The whole platoon was a bit shocked. The PS hurriedly said never mind.
Must have been the stress of being continuously pushed. I think for many people who go into the army without any preparation, it can get more than a bit overwhelming. -

Well, i've seen my PC cry before, not because he got scolded, but because he got piss drunk at the mess and started bawling like a baby.
Vomitted all over the place and we had to clean it up for him and cover up the whole incident. He was lucky that it was a quiet night and few other people were around, if not he might have been charged. -
One of my course mates at OETI cried.In small groups,we were taking turns to demonstrate what we had learnt to our instructors.It was his turn.He did well at first then suddenly I realised tears were rolling down his cheeks...He so nervous until he cried.Come on,it was not even the actual test! But strangely during the real practical test,he did not cry...
