people wearing SAF uniform as civilian clothings

  i see some people who go n alter the no.4 pants into either shorts or bermudas, n then wearing it in public with t-shirts...
  
  or people in civilian in public go n wear jockey cap.
  
  is it illegal or what? why do people want to do such things? no money to buy proper pants is it?
  
  n another thing is that i think some people use no.3 shoes as working shoes with their working attire.

  I'm not sure if the No.3 shoes are a big deal, since it's hard to tell.
  
  But I do know that it's actually illegal to wear the uniform for work (construction workers esp) or causual (Gord), its written in the law or some Act somewhere.
  
  Some years back the police and MPs cracked down on it for a while when there were complains in ST, then with passage of time.. stop enforcing it so hard...
  
  Maybe someone should write into ST again?

  There is a tag Property Of Saf on the clothes, pants, caps. So if you unlucky and you wear it and kena caught....be prepared to get naked!!!

  So meaning I cannot use SAF water bottles in public? And I cannot use my old SAF fullpack as my working bag? And I can't wear my old old army boots during my walk up the bukit timah natural reserve?

  I do wear my SAF jungle hat while at work. Due to the design of my working place, travelling from point A office to B office can be as far as 1km, so only way is to cycle. Under hot sun, the jungle hat works wonder . The water bottle also comes in handy wor.

  Further New Balance shoes are now everywhere as the brand is from UK. And New Balance has already set up civilian shoes stores everywhere in singapore. Some shoes even have similar patterns as the army one.
  
  I think the whole issue is in a grey area lah....as LONG AS your "uniform" DO NOT hold the SAF rank such that e.g. you 3SG rank or LTA epaulete on the uniform and anyhow where and tuck out and one fold up sleeve, one never, etc....and spoil SAF image, its ok.

  Aiyah...i think all the PT attire, T-shirts, Polo tees not included under the prohibited list lah....
  
  I even saw people wearing SAF PT attire to our club-fit gyms in the various town halls.
  
  Only the no.4, SBO, etc...
