Actually back in 1984 or so, a law was enacted prohibiting non-SAF personnel to wear SAF uniform regardless if they are trying to pose as SAF personnel.
The penalty then is $400.
If I am not wrong the penalty is to be enforced by Provost.
But i guess after a few "trial runs" the "ignorant" public would question the credibility of Provost.
So i guess it is an un-enforced law. -
actually i think actors in drama/plays/outdoor shows etc are premitted to wear the uniforms after permission is given by SAF.

i once wore my long 4 with a modified nametag sewn on over a black singlet and jeans out before...
I once saw one guy wearing the brown JCC tee shirt to O Bar knn lol! -

Misapplication and waste of Singapore Armed Forces property
Every person subject to military law who misapplies or wastefully expends any Singapore Armed Forces property shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction by a subordinate military court to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years or any less punishment authorised by this Act.
"misapplies" is the key here... Using SAF property for other purposes other than productive work in the SAF... -

If there is no identifying tag, the onus is on the SAF to prove that it is SAF property.They do not own any patent on the disruptive pattern, nor the design of the uniform, as far as I know.
So if it's the no.4, with NO identifying elements, badges, etc, it is okay. -
I also seen some mac or KFC deliveryman wearing army boots riding the bike!
So should be ok lar... -
I'm thinking of getting a pair of No.3 shoes to wear to work next time...

Interesting, the "wastefully expending" part. When i first enlisted (Navy), we were all issued number 4, goretex boots, but no goretex...once my mates all passed out (i OOC lah) they threw away all their number 4, and get this, their GORETEX BOOTS which had never chiong sua before! From what i've seen, most of the time it would usually be the "huan na kias" that would be wearing all these....For instance, i saw this guy wearing the SAF combat boots with jeans and some cut up the pants till it becomes bermudas, some kids use the jockey caps while riding among their bicycle gangs... Wait till we see some fella using the SBO in public

i got 4 sets of coveralls with 3sg rank, sg flag and singapore tag. once my design firm's badge is ready i'm going to sew that on too, i now thinking whether to modify the buttons into zipper or velcro, zipper troublesome to make, but velcro use long will become nua

Aiyah, I think the main issue is the No 4 uniform lah. Don't realy think they bother u on the shorts, T-shirt and running shoes bit. MP stop you just say you about to go exercise lah.
But if you wearing No 4 pants with ACDC T-shirt an your hair all geled up to stand straight up like some of the silly boys you see sometimes, can't quite claim you on your way to camp.
Actually I think now there is a rule that unless you on your way to exercise or doing some heavy manual work, you even have to fold up your sleeves to and from camp to home.
Also, for a lot of us already so sian of army, you still want to wear clothes to remind you of army?
Altho I have to agree the jungle hat is great for shade tho.
