yes...servin in the army...certification isn't issued by saf too...Originally posted by Gordonator:u mean a certified rescue diver but not serving in the navy?
What is the criteria to join? Reservist can join the course or it is menat for regular only?Originally posted by wuming78:there is a basic diver course. it is just like the airborne. passing the course means you can wear the basic diver badge, regardless of your vocation.
normally in the case of NSFs or NSmen, even if they are allowed to wear the badge by passing the course, don't think they will want to do that, reason being typical mindset of NSFs are I serve 2 years and that's it.Originally posted by wuming78:there is a basic diver course. it is just like the airborne. passing the course means you can wear the basic diver badge, regardless of your vocation.
askin wat i asked?Originally posted by binZ:actually i tot of asking tat too.. but no one seems to be able to give me an answer... >.<
That is not neccessary the case. Each course has their own intake quota and in the case of NSFs, what is the justification for you to take up a course that is not used in your normal area of ops? Take an example about say a signaller or driver trying to apply for divers course here. As for NCC cadets, I guess the SAF is allocating them some placement as some sort of recruitment tool (nothing beats psychoing them to sign up at a young age )Originally posted by Gordonator:Somemore even if they want to go for their course, there's also the question of whether their supersior allow them to go or not.
u in which unit?Originally posted by Ristar:
huh... most of the regulars in my unit have the diving badge, others have airborne, or the JCC badge.
if they (NSFs) really want the badge so badly, they can either go for the course on weekends (provided they conduct the course on weekends) or take leave to go.Originally posted by Fatum:with NS now being more compressed and compact ... you can forget about having much lull periods to go take these kind of courses liao .... the schedule would be pretty full I reckon ...
nah ... it's not and probably never will be ....Originally posted by binZ:I think the question is whether the diving courses conducted outside is recognised by saf as a confidence badge... -.-"
u nsf? regular? need to get selected first. the navy boys will have priority. followed by the army regulars.Originally posted by tyco_mun:Does anyone know how long the open water diving course is? I'm already a qualified SCUBA diver with NAUI cert. Thinking of getting the badge. ANyone know any more details about the course?
RIGHT! I NSF. But i noticed a couple of Sgts (also NSF) wearing the badge. I never bothered to ask them, cos they are F*%&(#$.Originally posted by saline:u nsf? regular? need to get selected first. the navy boys will have priority. followed by the army regulars.
they got it during their NCC days maybe? it is not likely an nsf (army) would get to go for the course. unless dat guy is super duper heng/ white horse.Originally posted by tyco_mun:RIGHT! I NSF.
