i'm actually askin on behalf of a fren..
he told me tmr he gg back his unit (NDU) cos he say he kanna charge 4 not applyin exit permit..
seems ta some time last yr he went tioman but nv applied 4 an exit permit n juz so happen ta his unit got a mock call up 4 personal 2 go back unit 4 a briefing..
apparently his missed ta briefing n was nw charged..
so my qns is wat will happen 2 him huh?

last year, i went Taiwan without applying for exit permit.
1 week later, when i come back, Mindef send me letter ask me next time go overseas must remember to apply, or else will charge me.. Heng my unit no call-up that time, or i think i now like ur friend liao. -
i dun apply for exit permit...
but everytime i go overseas i will apply for overseas leave...even if it falls on sat, sun or public hols... -
one must apply for Exit Permit if one intends to stay outside Singapore for more than 6 months or any NS activities fall within the period of you overseas trip.

I kenna once, was coming back from oversea, reach Singapore just before midnight on Sunday, reached home then realised Mob activated recall to go back to camp, lucky I had notified Mindef of the trip (oversea notification), nothing happen to me.

applying for exit permit shouldn't be difficult, all can be done online.

how come SAF like to make things so complicated.
From wat i heard out of Sg 24 hurs must apply for exit permit alreadi.
They set a rule but nv inform aniwan. Most of the time people got charged becoz they dunoe the rule, nt they purposely do it. -
You only need to inform SAF if you are going to be out of the country for more than 24hrs. No need for exit permit. Unless you have been a habitual MIA guy or have not been informing.
You only need to apply for exit permit if you are out of country for more than 6 months (I could be wrong about duration).
This has been established a long long time already.
The exception is unless you are about to enter NS as a fresh faced recruit. -
I think must make it clear.
Exit permit for non enlisted personal under the new rule
Mindef notification for NSmen
Since he mentioned forgotten to notify Mindef especially a Mob, likely is a fine, subsequently will be GI Jone. Must put him as a recall IC then he will know why he must be on. -
if lazy to go online apply for exit premit, just sms to 36767.
