I think the 4 finger rule is something that someone long ago invented as a rule of thumb, but which has since come into a prominence that its inventor could never have envisaged. Just like the story of the monkeys in a room who have been conditioned never to pull the rope on the ceiling.Originally posted by wuming78:i dont understand this - why does it make any difference if one is thin? and if that is the case, then for thin persons, how should the smart 4 be folded?
by the way, i consider myself thin and lanky too. and i have seen many thin and lanky servicemen. it only convinces me even more that between a properly done smart 4 vs one which extends all the way down to your elbow (esp if one does not have any chevrons), the former makes one look neater and tidier.
