What's a "striker"?

  I need some help with a term which one of my friends used while speaking with me the other day. Out of sheer curiousity, I'm interested in knowing what a "striker" is, as used in SWAT, counter-terrorism or other military teams. Maybe it's a Counterstrike term, I'm not sure...

  the 3 possiblities i can think of are:
  
  a tank based on the scorpion, scimitar class britis light tank. carries 10 swingfire ATGMs as its primary weapon instead of the 76mm(scorpion), 90mm(malaysian scorpions)main guns or 30mm Rarden cannon(scimitar).
  
  
  
  South African Striker, a 12 cartridge semi-automatic shotgun with a drum magazine.

  Striker? First man into the firezone? Someone who breaks down the initial barricade?
  
  Just guessing.. I'm nowhere near CT trained.

  Can't say I remember any person called a striker outside of sports.

  Thanks for all the replies...I don't think it's soccer-related, though. My friend used to be in the Army, so I'm thinking more along the lines of military terms.

  Isn't Striker just an assault man? As compared to the sniper.

  In Tom Clancy's Op-Center series, the strike team used by Op-Center is called 'Striker'.

  Maybe thats like the different position in the entry/assault team?
  
  First guy is the pointman, maybe 2nd guy the striker etc.
  He's probably called the striker as he has to cover the front field of fire.

  The firing pin in the Frag Grenade also call STRIKER leh.....

  Striker.
  
  A sailor in training for a rate is said to be striking. Someone learning to be a fire control technician is called a fire control striker. A midshipman at the U. S. Naval Academy is said to be an admiral striker.
