what design is that?Originally posted by insouciant:I still like the old SAF sniper camo design. It didn't last long tho. No idea why.Think that was better pattern than even the present one.
could it be the ghillie suitOriginally posted by wuming78:what design is that?
Hard to describe, sorry, no pix, cameras weren't so prevalent then. Does who did NS over 14/15 yrs ago would remember.Originally posted by wuming78:what design is that?
Did they mail it to you? Or did you collect it during ICT?Originally posted by dork3d:Just gotten my formation badges and tags, told to put them on as soon as possible, latest by next ICT must be sewn on... Also the old camo name tags have to be changed to the olive green tags...![]()
I got interesting questions...Originally posted by Gordonator:it have been a few months after the introduction of the new dress accessories. but from my observation, seems like only Army people are only wearing them, Navy and Air Force people are not required to do so, cos i never see any of them wearing the vocation pin on their collar.
so if let say an occasion requires them to wear no.4, does that mean that they can wear their old uniform with camou name tag, no singapore and formation patch?
hmmm b4 i left for ORD, my chief WO wrote a email about the new 'layout' for no4. only intel/medic specs are allow to sew the voc badge, and unit/camp ensigma dun have.Originally posted by Ponders:I got interesting questions...
People in Navy and Air Force who are required to wear Number 4 uniforms... are they required to comply with new dress codes?
Because in theory they are Army personnel in Navy/Air Force's command.
hmm can tell me more about your vocation. So that we can understand better.Originally posted by martin_lim85:hmmm b4 i left for ORD, my chief WO wrote a email about the new 'layout' for no4. only intel/medic specs are allow to sew the voc badge, and unit/camp ensigma dun have.
aaaa my voc is ASA, wat my encik written in his email is that their those who got posted to RSAF and their voc is medic or intel spec could wear back their voc badgeOriginally posted by Ponders:hmm can tell me more about your vocation. So that we can understand better.
Like are you a medic stationed in Naval Base, etc ?
how about FDS?Originally posted by martin_lim85:aaaa my voc is ASA, wat my encik written in his email is that their those who got posted to RSAF and their voc is medic or intel spec could wear back their voc badge
last seen fds rps wear with the SG and name tag niaOriginally posted by Gordonator:how about FDS?
Hmm.. before I ord heard that still pending... so we won't know when it will be ready...Originally posted by Gordonator:how about FDS?
well said. guess SAF got owned big time this time.Originally posted by Shotgun:Congratulations SAF. You've forgotten Murphy's rule of combat to uniforms. "The side with the simplest uniform wins." Want to wayang also dun wayang overboard... remember that ultimately the SAF still has to fight and win.
PS: Many US soldiers, albeit marine or army, rip off unecessary insignias, tags and rank in combat. Only their formation badge (eg 101st airborne badge etc) remains. And even that doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

Okay lar. I doubt snipers would shoot ASAs. Also make it easier to identify which units are operating in the area as well.
Not just snipers... enemy recce and intelligence will also be able to deduce which brigade or division is handling operations, its organic units etc.Originally posted by martin_lim85:![]()
i think sniper will kill any1 who wearing the same uniform tt is going to kill them
i think if it is division level it isn't of much intel to them.Originally posted by Shotgun:Not just snipers... enemy recce and intelligence will also be able to deduce which brigade or division is handling operations, its organic units etc.
Hope they have some contingencies to rip off all these nonsense when going to war man...
during the fighting communist during the emergency just afta ww2Originally posted by Gordonator:the formation patch is velcro type. it can be taken off if we really go to war.![]()
But the instructions for sewing on the patches was.. NO VELCRO. Sew the patch directly onto the sleeve leh.Originally posted by Gordonator:the formation patch is velcro type. it can be taken off if we really go to war.![]()
That is a mistake. Velcro should be the way forward, those planners did not foresee tactical operational requirements.Originally posted by ken_nerve:But the instructions for sewing on the patches was.. NO VELCRO. Sew the patch directly onto the sleeve leh.
