  my brother came back today with the collar badge and formation badge to be sewed. formation badge is velcro type.
  
  now everyone in the army will look like christmas tree.

  So this is the vocation badge. Doesn't tell much other than that you are from Armour.
  
  Guess I was right, they implemented something, and made a half-fcuked effort in doing so. It's not that hard to design individual badges for Armoured Infantry, Armoured Scouts, Tank Commanders etc...

  I agree. Arms badge should be soldier-specific. I mean, how would you feel if even the almost-non-existent storeman wears the same crossed bayonets as a rifleman who chiongs almost everyday?!

  good question. not sure about other units but my bother from 6SIR wears the infantry collar badge and a 2PDF formation badge.

  That would be the parent Division/Formation you belong to.
  
  Like for e.g if you are a Pioneer, but you are in 3 SIG. Then your formation badge will be 3rd DIV.

  r NSman require to sew all these childish looking things on our uniform when we report for reservist? btw, those clerks wearing no.3 got all these things anot?? lol.. they will really look like boy brigade or boy scouts.. lol

  i dunno abt the formation badges. but the new singapore tag need to be sewn. i recieved mine and was told to sew it before my next reservist...

  My colleagues have them, the silver pin bearing the (not too sure whether it is) HQ S&T logo. Since they belong to Support and supply..
