Singapore used to wear belts on the outside as Mag pouches use to hang from there.
It's like part of the SBO.
I think Arty or Engr formation also gotta wear belts too.
As for the commandoes.. i supposed someone here can explain why they are wearing belts on the outside too? -

anyway, from the commando pic above, most of them seems to be wearing lao jiao boots. even CDF is wearing the lao jiao boots. -

If the cloth is the seethru type, I think I have it at home, I have tested it in the jungle as a neck wrap also, prevent mosquitos from biting my neck! haha! Quite useful. -
any tankees here? the belts worn by the cdos here seem awfully similar to the ones worn by the tankees.
