Guard duty

  Sian, now all still sleeping. I am wearing my no. 4 now to go camp to do guard duty.
  
  Sway, strike 4D also not so zun!

  weekend duty do on saturday is the best. cos next day 8am can go back. do on sunday, next day monday still must work.

  har? everyone would have done duty on a weekend at least once during his ns or while serving leh (unless circumstances which exempt you from guard duty). so nothing to be da jing xiao guai about?

  Mine was the other way round.
  
  I used to do SAF ward duty at Alexandria Hospital. Medic specs would know about this.
  
  If I kena Saturday duty, I would try to swap it for Sunday duty. Why? Saturday duty for some reason is one long shift lasting the whole day.
  
  As for Sunday, they split it up into two shorter shifts lasting half a day each. So at least I can spend half a Sunday at home if I do Sunday duty.
  
  Don't ask me why it's like that. No one has been able to give me a good answer when I asked.

  I preferred to do Sunday duties. After all, I get to start work after 12. Or not..
  
  My personal belief is that a weekend duty should be compensated by half a day's off.

  regimental duty, not operational duty. guard duty also damn lobo and waste time only. get a book or two and read... or watch tv la.

  Yeah. i agree sunday is the best day to do weekend today. just imagine u do on saturday. then sunday off duty go back...and at night must book in again. the feeling very sian. if sunday at least the next day working day. feeling not so bad la.

  Haha... Take it easy, NS 90% will kena some form of duty one...
  
  I prefer to do Sunday guard. Coz can rest till 12 on monday then start work and Tuesday you get guard off... Do 1 guard is like 1.5days no need work...Quite ok.

  Agreed. For us who were permstaff, it's not that bad because we still have our office etc.
  
  But the trainees should really be given some sort of rest. They are doing prowling and sentry duties 24hr and that is not adequate rest for training on a Monday.
  
  I still believe they have to give them at least half a day's rest on Monday.

  Guard duty is only nice to do when
  
  1) The DO is not siao on
  2)Not a lot turnouts
  3)Staff parade not so strict
  4)Nothing bad happens
  5)Lastly,got order pizzas to eat!!!

  in my camp, guards can even surf net and play arcade games using the computer, meant for the guards.

  I once did SAF ward duty with a friend of mine who's also a medic spec.
  
  He brought his PS2 and hooked it up to the TV in the waiting room. We played on it for hours.
  
  The duty Senior Medic didn't stop us - if anything, he joined us.

  I remember two years ago around this time (Jul '04),I was down for guard duty every Sunday till NDP finished.
  
  That time I only got to book out on Sat afternoons.By the time,go home was already 1/3 of the afternoon gone liao.Then rest,unpack stuff is dinner time liao.Then only night left to enjoy,can enjoy how much? Even I knew it,it was time to get up to go back camp again.
  
  Then on the Sun duty,the guardroom window can see the outside world,I always looked yearningly at Bus services 10 and 14 passed by-coz they go Suntec area which is my fav.
  
  Before I knew it,two years have passed liao...since I burned all my July Suns doing duty.

  actually i didn't mind doing sunday duties. for me it was jsut whole day watch tv, read books and sleep in aircon room
  
  not as good as at home but then again its relatively easy for duties compared to saturday where theres more work to do
