no need to go ocs meh?Originally posted by lousyboiboi:your old level must be super duper zai to enter the world class JC to study air level.
then you must score straight As and apply for medicine course in our NUS.
then you will disrupt NS after your BMT ti study medicine in NUS. after you graduate, you will go back army MOCC and become a MO.
when you ORD, you can be GP.
MO's i think go OCS for few weeks only. After that they will go Medical Corp to be trained further.Originally posted by monoslayer:no need to go ocs meh?
Being a MO is not as easy as it seems wor~~Originally posted by colateral13:Any one care to share how do one becomes a MO and path afterwards? I would like to be a GP in future..
yup. they will get CPT rank after graduating from MOCC.Originally posted by mhcampboy:MO's i think go OCS for few weeks only. After that they will go Medical Corp to be trained further.
but they still need to go through modified ocs..Originally posted by alien09:you don't have to qualify for OCS to be medical officer. my bunk mate was a ck PTE when he got accepted to medical school. He disrupted, still studying medicine and will become an MO after he graduates from NUS...
i dun tink all MO can qualify for ocs lah.. some of the MO i seen backside so big tat i dun tink they can even climb over the low wall.. lolOriginally posted by w88:i thought there was a change -- disrupt only if you qualify for OCS, then attend MOCC after houseman training, upon completion of MOCC, become MO with rank of CPT
if you can't get into OCS, complete NS before going to medical school, and you don't get to become a MO even after becoming qualified as medical doctor
modified ocs mah..Originally posted by mhcampboy:Note that all Nsf's MO do not have any confidence badges on them.
ya lar... i never say they never go OCS wad... they do...but only for a few weeks.... just lectures and lectures and lil bit of running and more lectures...Originally posted by monoslayer:modified ocs mah..
Back in my day the CO decided that all MOs had to be airborne qualified because they had to follow the battalion. One of the MOs, Andrew, was a steady sort of bloke and we counted him as one of our own, but the other one, Peter, was a slack loser and we all had a good time watching him work his way through the BAC.Originally posted by mhcampboy:Note that all Nsf's MO do not have any confidence badges on them.
Note too sure about things now - but back then our MOs (2 of them) had airborne wings.Originally posted by mhcampboy:Note that all Nsf's MO do not have any confidence badges on them.
Yep, if you are a doctor after NS.Chances are that you will converted during reservist to an MO.Originally posted by bcoy:Note too sure about things now - but back then our MOs (2 of them) had airborne wings.
One was a little c0cky too - he would take out a pack of cigarettes, smoke, and tell the men how bad smoking was while puffing away. Another time, he was covering a live firing practise, got bored and requested to fire a live round from the 84mm RR - and yep, he got his chance. Can't remember his name though.
I know a MO - he was a signal corporal during his NS, went on to medical school after that, and converted to a MO. Doing extremely well these days.
Tall goofy guy who got blackmarked by the CO for going to play video games in the NCO Mess while one of the guys was bleeding from a bayonet wound in the hand? That would have been Peter.Originally posted by bcoy:One was a little c0cky too - he would take out a pack of cigarettes, smoke, and tell the men how bad smoking was while puffing away. Really meh? The MO is a DOCTOR lei.Originally posted by relackjack:i thought to be disrupt the soldier must get into OCS or Sispec? if not he wont be granted the option of disrupting..
anyway the MO always kenna looked down by the combat officers one.. haha
got commission properly anot?Originally posted by mhcampboy:Really meh? The MO is a DOCTOR lei.
D.O.C.T.O.R.
And Nsf's MO receive a very high allowance ok. I do not think they are looked down upon.
Thats not the point of becoming MO. Medical Corp is totally a different ball game in SAF.Originally posted by relackjack:got commission properly anot?
really? wait till those combat officers u mentioned report sick.. lolOriginally posted by relackjack:i thought to be disrupt the soldier must get into OCS or Sispec? if not he wont be granted the option of disrupting..

the dental officers ain't in uniform right? i thought they are civiliansOriginally posted by octega:Frankly, I prefer the MOs get screwed like the rest of the OCT regardless of their education level during their term in OCS, just to bring them back to the ground or tone them down. Sadly, over my NS term, most MO (even the dental) I come across is servely lacking in professionalism.
Even when you go outside polyclinics or the hospital, mention u are NSF, the doctors immediately "put on" their MO face and their attitude 360 degree change.
So when I am sick during my NSF days, I go to my family doctor, although I pay, no MC nevermind, atleast I get professional treatment.
There maybe good MOs in the SAF but sadly I never came across one and I think I never will.
