I heard back in the 80s the SAF high commands were thinking of turning the Guards formation into something like the marines corps. But the idea was abandon, wad is the reason? Ani lao jiao noe

Dunno but I heard dat from some veri lao jiao Guardsmen but the plan was abandon for some unknown issue. Any news whether 2Guards is going to be revived?

To a certain extent, only operational command and not administrative command. It is a completely different service. For SAF to have something like the Marines Corp is not exactly feasible. It would mean an introduction of a completely new (albeit likely relatively smaller) armed force. I think it is impractical to have 4 services, when 3 suffices. -

And I agree, its not feasible to have another small "army" with different assets. Where will they come under then? (Dun even think about a Joint command, its already tough enough to coordinate an attack with our 3 arms without c*cking up at some point in time.) It'll be better if we have specialised battalions or other unit strengths like 6SIR. Maybe a few amphibious Bns/Bde, an airborne Bde, etc (just throwing up some ideas). -
