Any1 enlisting in September?

Hi is any1 enlisting here in 8th September? I just received my enlistment letter to report to Bukit Gombak Camp.. I tio mono intake and got posted to 5 SiR (Singapore Infantry Regiment). Can anybody tell me if I can defer my NS as I need to clear my modules which I failed in Diploma? And is my vocation good?

Your have no vocation now. You are entering the bmt phase. You will train in your basic military skills.
After that, it is your company discretion whether to retain you or post you out to other unit such as the service formation.
Regarding deferment, i doubt you can get it. As you already got your reporting order. -
Thanks for the prompt reply. Im 18 year old this year and my school allow me another 1.5 years to complete the whole course.. If thats the case, try forwarding your questions to CMPB. Do it fast. Tell them your situation. I am sure they could work out something. But your enlistment is about 2 months away. I see ok.. Anyway i heard that mono intake that theres alot of ah beng? and infantry alot of malay? is that true?

Hmmm, thats very subjective. But in every unit, there is a fair share of Bengs or Malays around. No doubt about it.
I mean they do still need to go thru NS rite...

You will enjoy the camaderie with your new found friends. Seriously speaking, gone were the days where the weak were bullied. Now everyone is trained to work hand in hand.
I have seen how 1 SIR last mono trained. They enjoyed each other company so much that they work in cooperation and loyal to each other. They won the Best Infantry Unit for 04/05 Workyear.
But of course, not all are the same. Maybe this batch you might find a few jokers. But overall, mono intake is not as it used to be like last time. You will bond with your superiors, friends and even the mess aunty.
True training will be tough. But hey, this is not NCC or Boy Scouts. This is SAF. -

It doesnt matter if you are in SIR or HQ Division or Mindef or Navy etc etc...
The important thing is to be proud and loyal to it.
Obviously the role of 5 SIR is an infantry one. So there will be lots of chiong sua and yes it will be tough. But as days and months get by, you will be stronger and be easily adapt to the hardships that you will be facing.
My opinion is, SIR are units which deserve my respect. They are the key force behind our defence. But of course, SIR's and the rest of the units play a small role in the a picture to uphold our country's defence. -

18 years old this year, O level holder currently attending private diploma course. By right shud have completed already but i fail some modules

Anyways now all you can do is just pray that CMPB will accept your request. But i doubt so...as they already given you the Reporting Order.
Your uniforms, payroll, weapons allocation are all slowly being process for you. So i do not think you got a chance there. But u can still try.... -

Mono-intake generally is viewed as very tough and no welfare as compared to BMTC. Also life as a rifleman, if u get posted to as one, is really not easy. You don't get recognition for all the really hard work you put in as compared to the others. It is generally viewed as one of the worst or most xiong vocations around. Anyone who go throughs NS can tell you that.
Just mentally prepare yourself for what is coming. Actually, since you never complete your diploma, then your education level is just 'O' levels and it lowers your chance of entering command school. -
